In 2021, a research paper released by Watson Institute International & Public Affairs at Brown University titled, HIGH SUICIDE RATES AMONG UNITED STATES SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS OF THE POST-9/11 WARS, found that 30,177 active duty personnel and veterans who served in the military after 9/11 have died by suicide - compared to the 7,057 service members killed in combat in those same 20 years.
Signed into law in OCTOBER 2020, the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act authorized 988 as the new three-digit number Veterans can CALL by dialing 988 and pressing 1 to contact the Veterans Crisis Line. Local Veterans who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, or having thoughts of suicide, contact the Albany Samuel S. Stratton Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Veterans Crisis Line or Homeless Veterans Care Program by calling this Toll-Free number 1-800-698-2411

Our late Veteran parents and younger brother, Joseph Mark Long (b. 1970, died on June 30, 2021), all served overseas in the U.S. Military. Joseph died four months after our Army Security Agency (ASA) mom, who served in Germany. She passed in Hospice. Dad served in the Army Air Corps all over ITALY... He cooked incredible Italian-style cuisine in our home! My late godfather, Michael Aidala, was born in Sicily, Italy... He emigrated to America and was a Korean War Veteran. Our business partner's late dad was a Korean War Veteran and an Amsterdam, NY police officer... Her late sister, Karen (pictured above with her dad), served in the Vietnam War... OUR MISSION is to honor ALL active-duty military soldiers and ALL Veterans who served, our late veteran parents, late veteran mentors, late veteran cousins/siblings/uncles, and friends who served this great country in the military and their surrounding community.
Our company's traveling photographer, Ed Woods, is a United States Marine (retired), who served in the Vietnam War... Ed published a book, SILENT WARRIORS, dedicated to the American military men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War. It is a story about The Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall, containing over 58,000 names of those who gave their lives in defense of their country. All of the proceeds from the sale of this book will be used to benefit American Veterans.
Presented by New Scotland Spirits, the Annual Ruck March, held at the American Legion, benefits the Food Pantries of the Capital District as well as the Hidden Battles Foundation. This nonprofit organization strives to help preserve the healthy minds of active and retired Military/Veterans, Firefighters, Law Enforcement, EMS, 911 Dispatch, and Nurses...
